  • 15 – 18 March. Seville. La Sociedad de la Vihuela takes part in the 29th FESTIVAL OF EARLY MUSIC OF SEVILLE.In addition to the 26 concerts that make up FEMAS 2012, one of the most striking events in this edition is the exhibition that brings together luthiers from around the world. For this event luthiers from around the world will travel to Seville to display their works and display them in the Festival centre, Espacio Santa Clara. This year will see not only viol or plucked string instruments, but instruments of the Baroque quartet are added to complete an exhibition that will be the most important held in Spain so far. La Sociedad de la Vihuela will present its Exhibition of the History of the Vihuela and will have all out publications on sale. The exhibition will be open 15-18 March from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will be held in the  Refectorio del Convento de Santa Clara. The exhibition will be complemented by a second exhibition under the title “La Vihuela de Quito: Una reliquia musical” the recuperation of the six-course vihuela de mano, the most important Spanish and Portuguese instrument of the 16th century, and in Latin America where it arrived in the early days of the Spanish conquest of the New World. Opening hours: 14-18 March, Espacio Santa Clara, in the Antigua Ropería of the Convent.
  • 1 to 4 February in Madrid. EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY SPANISH VIOLIN MAKERS and exhibition of old instruments by RCSMM teachers put on by the GLAE (Spanish Guild of luthiers and bow makers) in collaboration with the RCSMM. At the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid. The exhibition is open on the first floor, next to the Conservatorium Museum will be open from Wednesday, February 1 at 17:00 until Saturday, daily 10:00 to 20:00. Violins, violas and cellos,  violas da gamba, bows and work of luthiers who currently developing their work in Spain. Also, the exhibition will include a number of old instruments, belonging to some of the teachers at the school, and there will be some workshops on topics of interest to luthiers and musicians, and a concert of students at the school where you can listen to a selection of the instruments on display.
  • NEW CD by the Dutch recorder ensemble Royal Wind Music with Spanish music from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Includes works by Correa de Araujo, Antonio and Hernando de Cabezon, Enriquez de Valderrábano and Cristóbal Morales among others. The aims of the association are to promote and divulge knowledge and study of historical plucked stringed instruments of all kinds: vihuela, lute, theorbo, renaissance, baroque and classic/romantic guitar, etc.
